Elizabeth Dinh In August 2003, Elizabeth Dinh was crowned Miss Asian American Texas 2003-04 out of 24 candidates. She received Best in Interview and the Asian American Leadership Award. Elizabeth danced to and sang "All That Jazz" from the musical Chicago as her talent. Her platform is about helping refugees and immigrants - a cause dear to here because her parents received much help when they came to America in 1975, after the fall of Saigon, Vietnam. She was born in Irving, Texas and raised in the Grand Prairie/Arlington, Texas area. She's a graduate of Sam Houston High School and later received her Broadcast Communications degree from the University of Texas at Arlington. While in college, she worked as an anchor and reporter for the Fort Worth City Cable. She interned at KXAS NBC 5, also in Fort Worth. In November 2004, Elizabeth left the Dallas/Fort Worth area for the Texas Panhandle to call Amarillo her new home. She moved there to become a General Assignments Reporter for KAMR NBC 4/KCIT FOX 14. Just six months later, she was promoted to Weekend Anchor/Reporter. On July 7, 2007, Elizabeth married Kevin Nguyen in Arlington. In October 2007, Elizabeth will join the ABC Action News team in Tampa, Florida as a morning news reporter. During her two-year reign as Miss Asian American Texas, Elizabeth was honored to speak and sing at numerous community events in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, Austin, Houston, Harlingen, and even Detroit, Michigan. Elizabeth speaks fluent Vietnamese and thanks her parents for teaching her everything she knows about her wonderful culture. She also thanks her husband, family and friends for their continued support. Elizabeth has six older brothers. She is the youngest and only daughter in the Dinh family. |
